Request for In-Person Town Halls and Public Presence from Our Senator
To: Sen. Cantwell
From: A constituent in Edmonds, WA
May 5
As a constituent, I am writing to express concern about your limited public presence in Washington state. In a time when communities are facing urgent challenges and dangerous federal legislation is advancing, it is not enough for our elected leaders to post on social media or participate in invite-only panels. We need to see you — in person, in public, and engaged directly with your constituents.
I have not seen any recent public town halls hosted by your office, nor have I seen you present at demonstrations or protests where your voice — and your solidarity — would have real impact. These absences are increasingly noticeable, especially as other members of Congress show up visibly and vocally to defend democratic values.
I would like to know:
• When will you commit to hosting a public, in-person town hall in our region?
• When will you begin showing up in community-led spaces where your presence sends a powerful message of support?
• What steps are you taking to ensure your representation is not limited to curated digital communications?
Representation is not just about votes in Washington, D.C. — it’s also about showing up, listening, and standing with us publicly when it matters most.
I ask that you share a timeline for when constituents can expect more public engagement from your office, and I look forward to your response.
