Tax payers deserve transparency re: ICE facilities and their true purposes

The rapid expansion of ICE detention centers demands serious public scrutiny. Officials describe these facilities as administrative necessities, yet communities are left questioning their true purpose. Why are more beds needed if enforcement is fair and proportional? Large-scale detention risks normalizing prolonged confinement of nonviolent residents and separating families without due process. Taxpayers deserve transparency about costs, conditions, and long-term intentions. Expanding detention infrastructure without clear justification undermines trust and raises troubling questions about priorities. We should invest in lawful, humane immigration processes—not a growing network of detention centers whose mission remains unclear and deeply concerning.
