I am writing as a Colorado resident, voter, and Medicaid Buy-In recipient who depends on long-term support services to remain healthy, stable, and as independent as possible. I urge you to reject Paragon’s Proposed Medicaid Checklist because, despite its promise to fight waste, fraud, and abuse, it would likely create more barriers for eligible Coloradans like me than it would solve.
Medicaid Buy-In and long-term support services are not optional for me. They are what allow me to access the care, supports, and continuity I need to live my life with dignity. If Colorado adopts policies that increase paperwork, tighten verification, or make eligibility harder to maintain, people like me could lose coverage because of administrative hurdles, not because we are ineligible.
I understand the need to protect taxpayers and prevent fraud. But real accountability should focus on actual bad actors, not on making the system so complicated that vulnerable people lose essential care. For someone in my position, a delayed renewal or an extra round of documentation can mean the difference between stability and crisis.
Please stand with Medicaid recipients, caregivers, and families across Colorado by rejecting Paragon’s approach and supporting reforms that preserve access, continuity of care, and dignity for the people Medicaid was designed to serve.
