I am asking you to publicly support the attorneys general fighting to block the Paramount and Warner Bros. merger and push our Attorney General to join the lawsuit if they have not already. Thousands of actors, filmmakers, writers, and other industry workers have warned about what this merger could mean: mass layoffs, fewer productions, fewer opportunities for independent creators, higher costs, fewer choices for audiences, and even more control over our media in the hands of one enormous corporation. Mark Ruffalo and others have also spoken about something especially disturbing: people in the industry are afraid to publicly oppose this merger because they fear retaliation or being blacklisted. A company already powerful enough to make people afraid to speak against it should not be handed even more control over their jobs and livelihoods. This is also about who controls what we see and hear. Paramount would gain enormous influence over film, television, streaming, CBS News, CNN, and other major media institutions. That concentration of power threatens competition, independent journalism, creative freedom, and the ability of workers and artists to speak freely without worrying about corporate retaliation. If our Attorney General has not joined the lawsuit, publicly call on them to join it. If our state is already part of the case, publicly support the lawsuit and make clear that our state should stay in the fight. We do not need another media monopoly. We need more independent voices, more competition, more creative freedom, and less power concentrated in the hands of billionaires and giant corporations. Speak up. Support the lawsuit. Push our Attorney General to act. Block the Paramount and Warner Bros. merger.
