Vote "No" on bill S1430

To: Gov. Little, Sen. Nichols

From: A constituent in Nampa, ID

April 1

The Preemption bill, S1430, would strip away ANY lower government body from utilizing current laws, and it passes excessive fines onto officials who try to pass future gun safety related legislation, or do not comply with the bill, i.e. due to population growth and increased criminal activity, denying firearms in sensitive areas, etc. This bill places our state legislature as the only body to regulate anything related to firearms, OVER all qualified and experienced lower level government officials, who KNOW their own town or city's needs more than anyone else. As Idaho continues to grow, no cities would be able to adjust or add sensible measures to protect their citizens; and the same holds for rural areas - i.e. people target practice on a country road, that's determined unsafe or too close to private homes or a public area, an ordinance to restrict using that area could not be enacted.
