Oppose SB50, the "Bigotry in Girls' Sports Act"

To: Del. Kerr, Del. Simpson, Gov. Moore, Del. Fair, Sen. Young

From: A verified voter in Frederick, MD

February 18

Oppose SB50. SB50 or the so-called Fairness in Girls Sports Act is anything but fair. This act aims to marginalize an already vulnerable group. Too often, prejudice against trans female athletes is nothing more than a thin veil of anti-trans bigotry. Hand-selected instances of supposed unfair advantages in female sports do not substantiate a legitimate concern against female trans athletes competing alongside cis fem competitors. Countless cisgender athletes, including many Olympians, would be disqualified from sports if participation hinged on someone's definition of fair body composition and chemistry. Gender affirmation is already a difficult enough journey physically and mentally, and to even hint that a person would undergo that process primarily for a competitive advantage is sick, nonsensical, and intolerant. Support our youth. Support trans kids. Oppose discrimination and hate. Oppose SB50.
