No recess appointments for unqualified cabinet nominees
To: Sen. Scott
From: A verified voter in Gulfport, FL
November 16
I know that Trump is asking lawmakers to let him name his unqualified cabinet nominees as “recess appointments” without a vote, a move that would require the Senate to adjourn for long periods of time. As your constituent, I am asking you to refuse to comply. Under the Constitution, the Senate must confirm cabinet secretaries. There’s a reason for that—unqualified nominees can then be blocked. I expect you to stand by the vow you took to uphold the Constitution. And please, for the sake of the dignity of our nation, vote no on Gaetz, Kennedy, Gabbard, and Hegseth. I hope I can count on your integrity and loyalty to our democracy. Thank you.
