An Open Letter

To: Sen. Webber, Rep. Martin, Gov. Kehoe

From: A verified voter in Ashland, MO

September 9

I urge Missouri lawmakers to pursue every lawful mechanism available to remove Secretary of State Denny Hoskins, Attorney General Catherine Hanaway, and Governor Mike Kehoe from office for their roles in Missouri’s ongoing redistricting crisis. Missouri voters should not have to repeatedly fight their own state government to exercise their constitutional rights. The actions taken by these officials surrounding the new congressional map and the referendum challenging it have undermined public confidence in our elections, disregarded the will and rights of Missouri voters, and forced an unnecessary constitutional and legal crisis. Public officials are entrusted with power to serve the people of Missouri, not to manipulate the political process to protect those already in power. When elected officials use the authority of their offices to obstruct voters, defend partisan manipulation of electoral districts, or attempt to prevent Missourians from having their lawful say at the ballot box, meaningful accountability is necessary. I therefore call on the Missouri General Assembly and every appropriate state authority to investigate the conduct of Denny Hoskins, Catherine Hanaway, and Mike Kehoe and pursue impeachment, removal, or any other lawful remedy warranted by the evidence. Missouri government belongs to the people of Missouri. Our elected officials must respect our constitutional rights, our elections, and our right to hold our government accountable. Salus Populi Suprema Lex Esto
