Please, I know your influence is limited in this regard, but do whatever you possibly can to convince your fellow congresspeople - particularly your Republican colleagues - to stand up for Due Process!
A lack of due process for ANYONE puts all of us at risk.
What is happening in the Abrego Garcia case is so far over the line, I can hardly contain my feelings.
I know, as I’m sure you do, that every single one of us is at risk of being declared whatever kind of criminal POTUS, DHS, ICE or whoever wants to declare us, without a chance to defend ourselves, and shipped off to god knows where forever now. Due process is not optional, and without it, all hope is lost.
If this administration refuses to respect due process, and defies SCOTUS openly, brazenly, and mockingly, as seems to be the case now, our only hope to retain our way of life is impeachment and removal from office.
I know that at this point that is laughably out of reach, but I’m dead serious. That is our only chance.
So please, make your colleagues understand the direness of our current circumstances, and get them to stand against this Fascist travesty.
Their lack of even a peep about the sacredness of due process is sickening.
This situation is making me physically ill. Please help to make it better, boldly, proudly, and without fear, and please bring your colleagues over. It really is our only hope.
