Consider exercising the 25th Amendment to remove the president.

To: Sen. Tillis, Sen. Budd

November 6

I am writing to express my deep concern about President Donald Trump’s ongoing disregard for the rule of law, violations of citizens’ rights, and growing signs of cognitive decline that raise serious questions about his fitness for office. I urge you to investigate these issues and, if necessary, encourage the Cabinet to consider action under the 25th Amendment. Multiple reports show a troubling pattern of non-compliance with federal court orders. A Washington Post investigation found that the Trump administration has failed to comply with roughly one-third of court rulings against it. Judges have described this as “willful” and “bad-faith” disobedience. In one case, Kilmar Abrego Garcia v. United States, a federal judge accused the administration of refusing to follow a Supreme Court order to facilitate a wrongfully deported immigrant’s return. Other courts, including rulings by Judge James Boasberg, have issued similar rebukes over ignored injunctions in immigration and civil rights cases. These examples show a consistent pattern of undermining judicial authority and eroding public trust in the Constitution’s system of checks and balances. Additionally, there is increasing evidence that the President may be suffering from cognitive decline. Analyses by STAT News and KFF Health News highlight deteriorating language use, fragmented thought patterns, and difficulties maintaining coherence during public remarks. The Guardian and PBS NewsHour have documented frequent lapses, tangential statements, and confusion about basic facts or names. While no single behavior is definitive, the accumulation of these signs raises legitimate concerns about his capacity to make sound decisions, particularly in crises. When a President repeatedly defies court orders and shows signs of diminished cognitive function, it becomes a national security and constitutional concern, not a partisan one. I urge you to support congressional oversight into executive non-compliance with judicial rulings and to encourage a bipartisan evaluation of the President’s fitness under the 25th Amendment. Our democracy depends on leaders who respect the law, uphold the Constitution, and are mentally capable of serving the American people. Please take action to protect the integrity of the presidency and the rule of law.
