I am writing to express my deep concerns regarding the H-1B visa program and its impact on American workers. While I understand the original intent of the program was to fill gaps in the labor market with highly skilled foreign professionals, it has instead become a tool for companies to replace qualified American workers with lower-cost labor.
Many American workers, particularly in the fields of technology and engineering, are struggling to find jobs despite having the necessary skills and experience. Rather than investing in training and hiring our own citizens, corporations often use H-1B visas to bring in foreign workers who accept lower wages, driving down salaries and displacing American talent. This not only harms individual workers but also weakens our economy in the long run.
To address these issues, I urge you to support policies that:
* Reduce or eliminate the H-1B visa program in favor of hiring and developing American talent.
* Strengthen enforcement against companies that misuse the program to replace American workers.
* Encourage investment in STEM education and job training to ensure our workforce remains competitive.
* Ensure fair wages for all workers, preventing companies from using visa programs to undercut salaries.
American workers should not have to compete with artificially low wages enabled by a visa program that prioritizes corporate profits over our workforce. Instead, we should focus on strengthening domestic employment opportunities and investing in our citizens' skills and career growth.
I urge you to take action on this issue and put American workers first. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your response.
