No Funding for DHS

To: Sen. Warner, Rep. Walkinshaw, Sen. Kaine

From: A constituent in Herndon, VA

February 12

I am writing to express my deep concerns about the growing atrocities committed by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and to urge you to vote against any funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in upcoming appropriations. There are numerous alarming issues associated with ICE, including: -No due process -Kidnapping and abduction -Unlawful detention -Warrantless arrests -Violence against peaceful protesters -Inhumane treatment in detention centers -Physical and sexual abuse of detainees -Intimidation and retaliation against advocates -Lack of transparency and accountability -Falsification of records and reports -Disregard for medical needs -Separation of families -Racial profiling -Contempt of court in legal proceedings These heinous actions highlight a culture of abuse that flourishes with added funding. Instead of further empowering this agency, we must prioritize community safety and human dignity by advocating for the complete abolition of ICE. I urge you to represent our community's values by opposing any funding for DHS and supporting systemic reforms that put an end to ICE. Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter.
