As your constituent, I am writing to express my strong support for the bipartisan DIGNIDAD (Dignity) Act, reintroduced on July 15, 2025. This legislation presents a long-overdue opportunity to implement a fair, comprehensive, and balanced approach to immigration reform—one that respects the rule of law while honoring the dignity and contributions of undocumented immigrants in our communities. The DIGNIDAD Act recognizes the reality that millions of undocumented immigrants have lived, worked, and raised families in the United States for years—often decades. It offers a humane solution: a renewable legal status for those who entered before 2021, paired with commonsense measures to strengthen border enforcement, modernize the asylum process, expand E-Verify, and address the backlog in legal immigration channels. I support this bill because it: • Provides a structured, earned pathway for undocumented immigrants to gain legal status while ensuring accountability through background checks, tax compliance, and restitution payments; • Protects Dreamers and introduces needed reforms to our overwhelmed asylum system; • Strengthens border security and workplace verification in a responsible and technology-driven manner; • Reduces visa backlogs and improves family reunification processes, allowing our immigration system to function more efficiently and humanely. Most importantly, the DIGNIDAD Act reflects the values of compassion, justice, and bipartisanship. It is a practical and moral step forward that our country urgently needs. I urge you to cosponsor this legislation, advocate for its advancement in committee and demonstrate leadership in moving beyond the political gridlock that has stalled immigration reform for too long.
