Oppose PEACE Act - Protect Honest Historical Education

To: Sen. Kunesh-Podein

From: A constituent in Minneapolis, MN

June 13

I urge you to oppose S. 227, the PEACE Act of 2025. This bill would prohibit the use of American History and Civics Education program funds for curriculum or teaching that addresses important topics related to race and racism in America. Banning discussion of how racism has shaped our nation's past and present would do a disservice to students by denying them a full understanding of American history and society. True civic education requires an honest reckoning with our country's flaws and injustices, not ignoring or whitewashing them. Restricting education on these vital issues would undermine efforts to build a more equitable and just society. For the sake of promoting greater knowledge, critical thinking, and progress, I ask that you vote against this misguided legislation.
