Please keep hospital open
To: Rep. Bentz
From: A constituent in The Dalles, OR
July 2, 2025
A Madras hospital will close and children of your constituents will go to bed hungry and sick if this budget bill passes. A majority of my Republican county voted for our Republican Congressman, and for Trump. My neighbors aren’t stupid. Scheduling the deepest cuts for after midterms sure won’t stop us from holding you to account for the loss of our children’s lifesaving hospital visits, dinner, asthma meds, college opportunities. I expect you to uphold the values of your district, the reasons so many people voted for you: Don’t vote to close our hospital. Don’t vote to cut SNAP and insurance for our grandmas. Don’t vote to effectively destroy old-age care facilities with insurance losses and skyrocketing costs. Don’t vote for the deaths of people who can’t get care fast enough for accidents in south Wasco. We will hold you to account. I understand the valid reluctance to stand in opposition to your party. You’ll be upheld as a hero if you do. If not? I can already see resistance gathering, even across party lines. Please do the right, smart thing and vote no.
