Subject: Grave Concerns about the SAVE Act (H.R. 22)
To: Rep. Kiggans
From: A constituent in Virginia Beach, VA
February 22
I am writing as a constituent to express my concerns about the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act (H.R. 22) and to urge you not to co-sponsor or support its passage.
While I appreciate efforts to protect election integrity, this bill could disproportionately impact married women who have changed their names, as well as eligible voters who lack access to passports or specific documentation of citizenship.
Many U.S. citizens do not regularly maintain a passport or a certified birth certificate, and additional barriers to voter registration could unintentionally disenfranchise military families, seniors, and natural-born citizens who have never needed such documents before. Instead of imposing restrictive documentation requirements, I encourage you to support solutions that enhance voter access while maintaining election security.
Please consider the real-world impact this legislation may have on your constituents and do not support H.R. 22.
