Public lands form the backbone of our cherished hunting and angling traditions, providing vital habitat for wildlife and access for all Americans to enjoy the great outdoors. These lands are owned by the people and belong to all of us, not just a privileged few. The proposed plan to sell off millions of acres through budget reconciliation circumvents established processes and cuts out public input, jeopardizing our shared public lands heritage. Rather than dismantling these precious resources, we should strengthen protections and reinvest in conservation to safeguard our public lands for future generations. Allowing unbridled development and privatization without community engagement or reinvestment betrays the promise made to the American people when these lands were set aside for our use and enjoyment. If we do not take a stand now, we risk losing access to the treasured landscapes that nourish our outdoor traditions forever. I urge you to reject any provisions enabling widespread public lands sell-offs and instead uphold your responsibility to steward these national assets for all citizens.
