An Open Letter

To: Rep. Fong

From: A constituent in Tehachapi, CA

Vote AGAINST the SAVE Act I respectfully ask that you vote against the SAVE Act, as this will disproportionately affect married women. The Act is being introduced on the basis that voter ID is required to minimise voter fraud. Voter fraud is minimal, less than 0.0001% of ballots, and there is no credible evidence that fraudulent votes have changed the outcome of an election. This Act is about voter suppression because it is aimed at minorities and women. Especially women who have changed their name upon marriage will have to spend money to obtain an ID that is acceptable. And at this time, when grocery and fuel prices are rising, poorer families can't/won't pay for this expense, which is used every other year; they would rather put food on the table for their families and gas in their cars so they can get to work. If you vote for the SAVE Act, I and many others will see your actions as misogynistic.
