The Secretary of Human Health Services is in and of himself a public health emergency. As your constituent, I urge you to demand that he immediately resign or be removed by impeachment. The public health of the United States is in grave danger under RFK Jr, who is clearly unqualified for this position. I remind you that he testified in his confirmation hearing that he is not against vaccines. Yet every decision and statement he has made regarding vaccines belies his claim. Note the following most recent events: August 28, 2025: After only four weeks on the job, CDC director Susan Monarez was fired from her position for not rubber stamping the anti-scientific directives of RFK Jr. Soon after her firing, four other senior CDC employees resigned from their leadership positions, leaving the CDC in chaos and disorder. August 28, 2025: FDA approved the 2025 Covid vaccine formulations for release from manufacturing; RFK Jr then restricted access to persons over 65 unless a doctor’s approval is obtained. There is a Covid surge happening right now and RFK Jr’s decision will only serve to increase the US disease burden. It has absolutely no scientific basis. August 18, 2025: On August 8th, a gunman opened fire at the CDC in Atlanta over distrust in the COVID-19 vaccines. RFK Jr. denied the shooter's motives and yet repeated the same CDC criticism that has led to public acts of violence. August 7, 2025: RFK Jr. has canceled $500 million in grants and contracts intended for the development of mRNA vaccines, such as promising cancer therapeutics and cures to infectious diseases. Public health experts have called this the "most dangerous public health decision" ever. June 10, 2025: RFK Jr. announced the removal of every member of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), the scientific committee that advises the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) about vaccination. Kennedy is now poised to fill the ACIP with fellow anti-vaccination conspiracy theorists, further eroding public trust in immunization and endangering public health. June 2, 2025: RFK Jr.'s anti-vaccine beliefs led to the cancellation of a contract to develop a bird flu vaccine and changes to covid-19 vaccine recommendations. The agency also issued a report to back up their claims about children's health that cited studies that do not exist. May 6, 2025: RFK Jr. announced that he will direct federal agencies to explore new and unscientific treatments for measles despite the strong historical efficacy of the vaccine. I urge you to immediately hold RFK Jr accountable for these actions.
