Addressing the Illegal Transfer of Individuals to Venezuelan Prisons

To: Sen. Tillis, Rep. Edwards, Sen. Budd

From: A constituent in Asheville, NC

March 17

I am writing to express my deep concern about the alarming reports of individuals, including possible American citizens and others, being illegally detained and transferred to prisons in Venezuela. This practice not only violates international human rights laws but also endangers the lives of those affected, subjecting them to inhumane conditions, abuse, and a lack of due process. As a constituent, I urge you to take immediate action to investigate these reports, ensure the safety of those unlawfully detained, and hold accountable any parties involved in facilitating these transfers. The United States must stand firmly against such violations of human rights and protect its citizens from wrongful imprisonment abroad. I respectfully request that you push for a formal inquiry into this issue and advocate for diplomatic and legal measures to secure the release and safe return of any Americans or other unlawfully held individuals. Moreover, I urge you to support policies that strengthen protections against extrajudicial detentions and ensure transparency and accountability in our international relations. Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. I appreciate your dedication to upholding justice, human rights, and the safety of all Americans.
