I am writing to urge you to vote against H.J. Res. 149, which threatens the long-term health and integrity of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. The Boundary Waters watershed is one of America’s most pristine and ecologically vital regions — a haven for wildlife, clean water, and outdoor recreation. It represents not only the beauty of Minnesota but the natural heritage we are responsible for protecting. Allowing mining interests to exploit this area would cause irreversible harm to delicate ecosystems, poison waterways, and destroy the unspoiled wilderness that generations of Americans have cherished. What’s even more alarming is that this exploitation is being led by a foreign mining company from Chile, whose operations primarily serve Chinese processing plants. This is not an “America First” policy — it’s the opposite. It sacrifices American land, clean water, and jobs for the benefit of overseas corporations and foreign governments. Economic progress cannot come at the expense of our environment. Once polluted, these waters cannot be restored, and the natural balance we lose today will deprive future generations of a uniquely American treasure. I urge you to stand with your constituents and defend our country’s natural resources from short-sighted exploitation. Please vote NO on H.J. Res. 149 and help protect the Boundary Waters for all Americans.
