Protect Funding for the ASCENT Program

To: Sen. Marchman, Rep. Smith

From: A constituent in Fort Collins, CO

February 20

I’m reaching out to urge you to protect funding for the ASCENT program, which provides critical college opportunities for Colorado students. We recently learned that ASCENT funding may be reduced or eliminated in fall 2025 due to state budget constraints. Losing this program would create financial barriers for students who rely on it to pursue higher education. Without ASCENT, students attending schools like Front Range Community College or Aims Community College would face costs of $6,000 - $7,000 per year—an expense that many families cannot afford. Cutting this program would limit access to education, widen equity gaps, and hurt Colorado’s future workforce. I ask you to advocate for ASCENT funding in the upcoming budget discussions. Investing in education strengthens our economy and provides opportunities for students to succeed. Thank you for your time and support of Colorado’s students.
