Our state is facing a $2.3 billion budget shortfall (https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/politics/wa-health-care-groups-raise-alarm-over-ferguson-budget/) caused by Trump’s tariffs, billionaire tax breaks, and cuts to health care, education, food assistance, and more
Legislators must find new revenue sources, like a Millionaires Tax, to fund core programs that Washingtonians rely on and to make our tax code more equitable and sustainable.
The Millionaires Tax would:
• Tax annual income over $1 million at 9.9%
• Raise nearly $3.5 billion per year
• Apply to only 20,000 (0.2%), the wealthiest in Washington
A Millionaires Tax can fund education, healthcare, and other basic needs while making our upside-down tax code more equitable.
