I'm writing to encourage you to support Rep Ocasio-Cortez for ranking member on the Oversight Committee. Rep Ocasio-Cortez has shown herself to be one of the Democratic party's BEST communicators and advocates. Much respect to Rep Connolly -- he has been a great representative and helped many of my clients with USCIS issues -- but Rep Ocasio-Cortez is better positioned to effectively use the role of Oversight as we go into the horror of another Trump administration. We need the Democratic party to be developing its bench and giving younger members the chance to take on greater roles. We need to embrace the star power that Rep Ocasio-Cortez has as one of the Representatives who has a strong national presence and can help galvanize support and enthusiasm in fighting back -- and also helping to more widely publicize the information that Oversight is able to bring to light. Rep Connolly is great and I respect him a lot - I will always remember him coming to stand with us airport lawyers during the first Muslim ban. But I think that Rep Ocasio-Cortez will be able to do more with a leadership role. I urge you to support Rep Ocasio-Cortez and to encourage your colleagues to do the same.
