An Open Letter
To: Sen. Tillis
From: A constituent in Raleigh, NC
August 4
I am writing to express my absolute, unfiltered disgust with your decision to fold on the nomination of Todd Blanche.
Your behavior throughout this entire process has been just as cavalier, arrogant, and insulting as Mr. Blanche's. Like clockwork, you played the principled holdout for the media—pretending to care about constitutional guardrails and demanding accountability. But the moment you were offered a cheap, superficial piece of paper regarding dollars, you rolled over and handed him your vote.
Your priorities are a disgrace:
Dismissing Human Suffering: You forced a meeting with Jeffrey Epstein’s survivors, only to treat their horrific experience as a check-the-box exercise. When those women begged you to see Blanche for the arrogant bureaucrat he is, you turned your back on them. You flipped a middle finger to real human beings deserving of dignity and justice, all to settle a political negotiation over a money fund.
Transactional Spinelessness: Securing a piece of paper about a $1.8 billion fund does not erase Blanche’s active bar ethics investigation, nor does it undo his hearing admission that he operates as a personal lawyer rather than an independent public servant.
Zero Courage: You have no more elections to win, yet freed from political consequences, you still choose compliance over integrity.
Trading the pain of sexual abuse survivors for political cover is not leadership—it is shameful cowardice. Your vote is a permanent stain on your legacy, and I am thoroughly disgusted to have you representing North Carolina. If there is anything "great" about NC as you claim on your VM message, it NOT YOU!!
