Constituent Request: Oppose Chuck Schumer for Senate Majority Leader

To: Sen. Shaheen, Sen. Hassan

From: A constituent in Gilford, NH

November 5

As a constituent, I urge you to oppose Chuck Schumer for Senate Majority Leader. Do not mistake historic Democratic midterm gains for an endorsement of the party establishment. Voters rebuked the current economy and the Trump administration, demanding accountability and real change. We cannot return to business as usual under leadership that has lost the public’s trust. Senator Schumer has repeatedly failed to meet the moment: * Legislative capitulation: He handed Republicans the votes for the March 2025 stopgap bill and ended the 43-day fall 2025 shutdown over ACA subsidies empty-handed—failing to keep the caucus unified or win concessions. * Historic unpopularity: A September 2025 Pew survey named him the least popular Democratic Senate leader on record (underwater even among Democrats), while a Siena poll found 50% of New York voters view him unfavorably. * Out-of-touch messaging: His February 2025 Treasury protest chanting "We will win" showed how disconnected he is from the public. * Poor political judgment: He drew criticism from Rep. Mark Pocan for refusing to back Zohran Mamdani in the NYC mayoral race, backed the failed campaigns of Haley Stevens and Janet Mills, and neglected competitive Senate races in Florida and Mississippi. * Lack of vision: Above all, he has no forward-looking vision and will be just as ineffective as Majority Leader as he was in the minority. I implore you to vote for a new Senate Majority Leader who will hold the wealthy and corrupt accountable, restore faith in government, and deliver the bold change this country needs.
