I would like to thank you Senator Tillis for being a part of the bipartisan group who are taking the responsibility as a co-equal branch of government seriously with this attempt to reign in the senseless tariff behavior of the executive branch. It makes no sense, you see it and I’m sure my other senator does as well. We all see it. What sense does it make to put tariffs on countries who grow things we can’t such as coffee and bananas. What sense does it make to put a tariff on an island that isn’t self-sufficient but no one in the Trump administration had the sense to figure out how foolish that looks. Tariffs didn’t work back in the late 1800s like everyone thought did they would. And we are now living in a very different time and place in the world. Senator Budd, I would recommend that you begin to think more clearly about how you’re going to go down in history because you are to be representing the people of North Carolina not just one little corner and we don’t expect you to just bow down to a person who honestly has not been a good businessman. You both are to serve all of the people.
