Reject anti-constitutional religious overreach threatening civil liberties
To: Sen. Warner, Rep. McGuire, Sen. Kaine
From: A constituent in Manakin Sabot, VA
February 6
This proposed "anti-Christian bias" task force is an alarming overreach that threatens to erode the vital constitutional principle of separation of church and state. By explicitly favoring one religion over others, it violates the First Amendment's guarantee of religious freedom for all. Rather than protecting Christians, it promotes Christian supremacy and enables discrimination against minority faiths and non-believers. Such government entanglement with religion has been consistently rejected by the courts as unconstitutional. This task force would improperly use federal law enforcement to advance a particular religious agenda, chilling free exercise. Prosecuting those exercising their reproductive rights on religious grounds is a frightening erosion of civil liberties. Favoring Christianity is antithetical to America's pluralistic values. I urge you to vigorously oppose this executive overreach and uphold the Constitution's vital separation of church and state. Protecting true religious liberty means allowing all faiths and none to be freely practiced, not elevating one belief system through the coercive power of government. Our democratic principles and unity as a nation depend on equal rights for all Americans, regardless of their religious affiliation or lack thereof.
