I am writing to express my strong support for the Town of Hamden's request for Community Project Funding to rehabilitate the M.L. Keefe Community Center. The Keefe Center is a vital lifeline for Hamden residents, housing the Community Services Department, Youth Services Bureau, and Food Bank, services that thousands of low- and moderate-income families depend on every day. Unfortunately, critical failures in the building's HVAC and plumbing systems have already forced the relocation of the Warming Center, and without significant investment in roofing, mechanical systems, accessibility, and infrastructure, the facility's ability to serve our community will continue to deteriorate. I respectfully urge your support for this project, which will ensure the Keefe Center can fulfill its essential role for years to come.
