Oppose bill sacrificing federal lands for border security
To: Rep. Wilson
From: A constituent in Columbia, SC
March 8
This bill would cause severe environmental damage to federal lands along the southern border. Allowing construction of roads, placement of temporary barriers, and clearance of vegetation would degrade pristine wilderness areas and disrupt fragile ecosystems. Furthermore, granting states the ability to take such actions on federal lands undermines the purpose of designating these spaces for preservation and protection. Mitigating wildfires and removing trash are noble goals, but the proposed measures go too far and enable activities that will irreparably harm these lands. There are better solutions that balance border security with environmental conservation. I urge you to oppose this legislation that sacrifices our natural heritage for misguided policies. We can find more sustainable approaches that uphold our values of responsible stewardship over public lands.
