Over 4 MILLION people have lost access to SNAP in the past year, including more than 800,000 kids from just 12 states.
SNAP is a lifesaver to so many families. About 4 in 10 SNAP recipients are children. Millions more are seniors, veterans, people with disabilities, and working families who just don’t earn enough to cover the high cost of groceries.
A new bill passed a year ago (H.R. 1) made the biggest cuts to SNAP in HISTORY – and now we’re seeing the impact play out in real time. In some states like Arizona, more than HALF of the people relying on SNAP have lost access.
Next year most states will be forced to assume hundreds of millions in SNAP benefit costs that have always been provided and ensured by the federal government. Given their limited resources and the unrealistic timeline, some states have questioned their ability to continue providing SNAP benefits at all.
I want Congress to include a two-year delay of the harmful SNAP cost shift to states in the Farm Bill.
I want my tax dollars going to help the people in my community, not to fund tax breaks for billionaires, not to build Trump's vanity projects, and to for a needless war with Iran!
