Defend National Park Service funding and staffing

To: Rep. Edwards, Sen. Budd, Sen. Tillis

From: A constituent in Leicester, NC

February 17, 2025

The Trump administration's proposed cuts to the National Park Service threaten to undermine the protection and proper management of our cherished national parks. These cost-cutting measures, including firing staff and imposing hiring freezes, will significantly impair the agency's ability to safeguard the natural and cultural resources entrusted to its care. Local communities surrounding national parks stand to suffer severe economic consequences, as the parks generate billions of dollars annually and support hundreds of thousands of jobs. I urge you to take action to prevent these damaging cuts from taking effect. The National Park Service requires robust staffing and funding to fulfill its vital mission of preserving our national parks for present and future generations. These natural and historic treasures belong to all Americans, and we have a collective responsibility to ensure their long-term protection and accessibility. Please prioritize defending the integrity of the National Park Service and our invaluable national park system.
