I’m writing to urge Senator Rick Scott to oppose H.R. 1, the budget reconciliation bill, and its harmful cuts to vital government programs.
Specifically, I’m very concerned about:
• the funding increase for ICE and Trump’s mass deportation operation, (and)
• the sale of millions of acres of public lands to private buyers and fossil fuel companies, (and)
• the widespread roll back of clean energy tax incentives and climate protections, (and)
• the devastating cuts to Medicaid
Congress should pass a fair and responsible budget that helps working families and communities. Our public lands should not be up for sale, this is what our taxes should be going towards. We pay taxes for the safety and health of our country’s residents, not not one that slashes our benefits to fund tax cuts for the wealthy. It is inhumane to hunt people down, as if it were a sport, with unmarked men who have no identification. This is a dangerous precedent to be setting. There are so many terrible ways this could go wrong. It is kidnapping and goes against human rights.
You were elected to help and represent your constituents, not donors. Vote NO on H.R. 1.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
