House Republicans on Wednesday won narrow approval of their $95 billion budget plan to fund the war with Iran and impose new election restrictions President Trump has demanded, muscling through dissent in their ranks to send the measure you, the Senate. The blueprint would pave the way for filibuster-proof legislation known as a reconciliation bill that would bypass Democratic opposition and provide up to $73 billion in additional military funding, $12 billion for farmers and $10 billion to enforce severe new voting restrictions championed by Mr. Trump. The debate featured little in the way of direct discussion about the war with Iran, for which the bulk of the money is intended. This is unacceptable! Trump and Hegseth have yet to address Congress or the American people in any meaningful way concerning the war with Iran. A war, which I will remind you is illegal, as Congress is the only branch of government that has the power to declare war. The Republican dominated Congress allowed Trump to go rouge, and he has gotten us into a massive mess! Not another dollar, much less billions of OUR dollars, should go to this war without a decided set of priorities, signed off on by Congress. Congress should demand that the goal with Iran be nothing less than immediately working to end this unpopular and illegal war. And then there is the SAVE America Act. This extremely unpopular piece of legislation, neatly tucked into this budget plan should make the entire thing DOA. Voters HATE this! It is an assault on our Constitutional rights to free and fair elections! If you vote for this, mark my words, we will vote you out in the mid-terms! No budget should pass as it stands. Demand an accounting for the war budget and strip any version of the SAVE Act from this budget immediately!
