I live in Falls Church and I am writing about SpaceX's decision on the night of October 13 to restrict military Starlink service in Ukraine. SpaceX gave Ukraine's forces no warning. Several missions failed or were canceled.
Ukrainian units use Starlink to talk to each other, fly drones, and drop supplies to the front. When the link fails mid-mission, soldiers are exposed. If service is cut further, Ukrainian soldiers and the civilians they defend will die.
One private company should not be able to change the course of a war overnight. Neither should one man's posts on social media.
I ask you to:
1 Demand that SpaceX explain the change and disclose whether any U.S. official requested it.
2 Require advance notice to the Pentagon and our allies before any service change that allied forces depend on, as a condition of federal contracts.
3 Fund alternatives so Ukraine and our own military do not rely on a single provider.
