Pass the one year extension and open the government
To: Sen. Scott, Sen. Moody
From: A constituent in Sanford, FL
November 7
I’m writing to urge you to immediately act to extend the Affordable Care Act subsidies and reopen the government.
Democrats offered a reasonable, compassionate compromise—a one-year continuance of the ACA tax credits in exchange for reopening the government—and it was rejected as a “non-starter.” That is unacceptable.
Millions of Americans are logging onto Healthcare.gov right now and discovering that their premiums have skyrocketed 200%, 300%, even 400%. I personally know people whose monthly insurance premiums are now higher than their mortgage payments.
This is not sustainable. People are being priced out of basic healthcare. We shouldn’t have to beg for the ability to see a doctor or afford prescriptions. Healthcare is not a luxury—it’s a human right.
Please do everything in your power to pass the one-year extension of ACA subsidies, end this shutdown, and protect the health and wellbeing of the American people.
