An Open Letter

To: Sen. Tillis, Sen. Budd

From: A constituent in Raleigh, NC

February 19

Once again, Senators, I am asking you why you think our country will be better off as a white Christian nationalist Nation. Why do you think we are better off if we eradicate the history of non-whites and normalize racism? Why do you think we would be better off when we silence critics and demand that white supremacy be forced upon the rest of us? We are a country of immigrants and have been since our history. Racism, anti-Semitism, the establishment of one religion only, and the assault on DEI are not what makes this country great. Concentration camps, federal agents terrorizing and killing those of us living in our country, and speaking out against a regime do not make a country great. Having a very small minority of people in charge who crush everyone else's free speech rights is not what makes a country great. Censorship and enforcing conformity to a MAGA world view with punishment for dissent does not make a country great. Again, I am asking you why you are embracing Nazi Germany tactics. Americans do not want our country to become Nazi Germany or Russia, or N Korea. Forcing us to live in Trump's alternate reality and Stephen Miller's fantasy world will not work. The American people will not stand for it. We have a history we should be proud of. It should not be erased. So again, I'm asking you: Why are you embracing a dictatorship? How do you think your families will thrive living in a white Christian Nationalist Nation? Trump's lawless regime goes against our Constitution. Again, I ask you, why aren't you upholding your oath to the Constitution? Why are you allowing un-American maneuvers in our country? How will you benefit?
