Childcare bills & S4340

To: Sen. Van Hollen, Sen. Alsobrooks

From: A verified voter in Bowie, MD

May 4

The House just passed two childcare-related bills that I’d like the Senator to support. First, the bipartisan SEED Act, which would extend the educator expense tax deduction for the first time to early childhood educators so they can deduct the cost of classroom supplies, and second, the Farm Bill package that includes support for rural child care. Please support them both. Second, I understand that Senator Ted Cruz introduced legislation in the Senate, S. 4340 the Stop Climate Shakedowns Act of 2026, that would shield fossil fuel companies from liability lawsuits and target climate superfund policies gaining steam in states. I wholly oppose this terrible bill and expect the Senator to do so as well. Oil and gas companies have known what their products would do to our climate for 30 years at least. They lied about it and the costs to humanity are incalculable. They should pay. Ask the Senator to vote no, please. Thanks.
