This resolution promotes a false equivalence between valid criticism of Israel's policies and antisemitism. Conflating anti-Zionism with hatred towards Jewish people is deeply concerning and puts Jewish communities at risk of further marginalization. An arms embargo on Israel is a reasonable step to take in response to its disproportionate military actions and human rights violations against Palestinians. Passing this resolution would only serve to shield Israel from accountability and embolden its unacceptable conduct towards civilians. A true commitment to human rights and democracy necessitates rejecting this attempt to stifle dissent under the guise of combating antisemitism. The safety and dignity of all people, regardless of ethnicity or religion, should be the guiding principle.
