I am writing to you today to urge you to vote yes on House Bill 453: Regards insurance, Medicaid coverage of certain autism therapy. As a social worker who works directly with children on the autism spectrum I have seen first hand how challenging it is for families to get ABA services covered outside of the use of the autism scholarship. This scholarship, while helpful, must have the school districts backing for them to use it for ABA services. Many families of children on the spectrum do not receive such support from the schools even if they would greatly benefit from ABA services. With this bill, Medicaid coverage would provide an opportunity for constituents to get the care that they need.
