Reject Cuts to Medicare and Medicaid to Fund Billionaire Tax Giveaways

To: Rep. Omar

From: A verified voter in Minneapolis, MN

April 8

The proposed budget resolution from House Republicans is deeply concerning as it prioritizes tax breaks for the wealthiest individuals over funding vital programs like Medicare and Medicaid. Extending the 2017 tax cuts and adding $1.5 trillion in further reductions would primarily benefit billionaires and corporations at the expense of everyday Americans. Cutting $2 trillion from essential social programs like Medicaid, which provides healthcare coverage for over 70 million low-income Americans, including children, pregnant women, and people with disabilities, is unacceptable. Similarly, any reductions to Medicare, which millions of seniors rely on for their healthcare needs, would be detrimental to the well-being of our nation's most vulnerable populations. A responsible budget should focus on investing in programs that uplift all citizens, not just the affluent few. Tax policies should be fair and equitable, not skewed to disproportionately benefit the ultra-wealthy. I urge you to reject this budget resolution and instead support a fiscally responsible plan that protects vital safety net programs while promoting economic growth for all Americans.
