I am writing to request a thorough investigation into the recent racial incident that occurred in Virginia City. The video evidence clearly shows an individual using appalling racist language and threats towards an innocent person. This kind of hateful behavior is unacceptable and cannot be tolerated in our communities. The victim, Ricky Johnson, was peacefully trying to gather signatures when he was subjected to vile racist slurs and threats of lynching from Gary Miller. Johnson states he wants the perpetrators charged for their abhorrent actions. As a community, we must take a strong stand against racism and hold those responsible fully accountable. Racism has no place in our society. We must send a clear message that such vile conduct will not be tolerated. I urge you to pursue this matter rigorously and bring appropriate charges against those involved in this despicable incident. Their actions represent a shameful stain on Virginia City that demands justice and consequences. A full investigation is warranted to get to the truth and reinforce that racism will never be accepted.
