I am writing to express my deep concern about President Donald Trump’s actions, both during his presidency and since his return to office on January 20, 2025. His policies prioritize political and personal interests over the well-being of the American people, undermining democracy, civil rights, and economic stability. Harmful Immigration Policies Trump’s decision to revoke temporary legal status for 240,000 Ukrainians and end humanitarian parole for 1.8 million migrants will force vulnerable individuals back into dangerous conditions. Mass deportations of Cuban, Haitian, Nicaraguan, and Venezuelan nationals disregard the violence they fled, violating America’s humanitarian commitments. Attacks on Civil Rights and LGBTQ+ Protections Trump’s administration has rolled back LGBTQ+ protections, banned transgender athletes from competing in sports, and spread misinformation labeling gender-affirming care as "child abuse." These policies foster discrimination, embolden extremists, and strip away fundamental rights. Government Destabilization and Mass Firings Trump has attempted mass firings of federal employees to consolidate power and politicize public service. While a federal judge blocked this, the attempt alone threatens public institutions like NOAA, weakening agencies responsible for critical services. Spreading Misinformation and AI-Generated Propaganda Trump continues to manipulate public perception, using an AI-generated video depicting a futuristic Gaza Strip to justify harmful policies. Initially framed as satire, it was later used as propaganda, demonstrating his administration’s reliance on deception. Voter Suppression and Threats to Democracy The SAVE Act threatens to disenfranchise Americans, particularly women and marginalized groups, through restrictive voting policies. His administration pushes ID laws, polling place closures, and baseless fraud claims, all designed to suppress votes and consolidate power. Economic Instability and Reckless Trade Policies Trump’s erratic trade policies, including temporary tariff exemptions for Canada and Mexico under USMCA, followed by threats of "reciprocal" tariffs, destabilize trade relations and risk American jobs. His economic approach prioritizes political posturing over stability, harming working-class Americans. Rollback of Environmental Protections Trump’s administration prioritizes corporate profits over public health, rolling back environmental regulations that increase pollution and threaten water and air quality. His refusal to address climate change endangers future generations. Conclusion Trump’s policies undermine democracy, civil rights, and economic security. I urge you to oppose these harmful actions and advocate for justice, equality, and accountability. Our democracy depends on leaders who will stand against corruption and oppression.
