I implore you to vote against the confirmation of Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense due to his concerning statements and lack of relevant experience for such a critical role. As a military analyst with no command experience, Hegseth's nomination poses serious risks to our national security. His promotion of dangerous conspiracy theories and his opposition to American involvement in foreign conflicts, even in support of allies, raise serious doubts about his ability to effectively lead the Pentagon and advise on matters of war and peace. Confirming someone who cannot be trusted to stand with our allies could undermine our global standing and commitments. Moreover, Hegseth failed to state he would not follow unlawful orders from President Trump during the confirmation hearings, further calling into question his judgment and commitment to democratic principles. He also refused to say he wouldn't attack Denmark, our ally, at the request of Trump in order to seize Greenland by force. I implore prioritizing a nominee with substantial military leadership experience who can safeguard American interests at home and abroad.
