Vote No on AB961 to protect free speech and small businesses

To: Rep. Subeck, Sen. Hesselbein

From: A verified voter in Madison, WI

February 13

Vote NO on AB961 This legislation is ripe for abuse. This bill uses terms like "explicit" and "harmful to minors" without defining them clearly. As a small artist, I cannot afford to go to court because someone walking past my booth thinks something like the word "queer" is "offensive" or "harmful to minors". Fines and damages could financially devastate me. My business is just me. It would be easy to weaponize this legislation against musicians, authors, artists and makers for political content. Silencing freedom of speech by driving anyone out of business who gets reported and sued by anyone who feels like opening a civil complaint on a whim. We can protect minors without threatening freedom of expression or small businesses. Please oppose AB961!
