The Pentagon's plan to livestream the execution of Nidal Hasan on December 3rd must be blocked. This is not justice — it is spectacle. The UN human rights office has called it "tantamount to a public execution" that would breach the absolute prohibition of torture. The United States would be joining Iran and Afghanistan as the only countries known to have carried out public executions in 2025. That is not company we should keep.
Even survivors of the Fort Hood shooting have expressed concern about the message a public livestream sends. There are no age restrictions confirmed, no safeguards announced, and the legal terrain is, by the Pentagon's own admission, uncertain. The appellate process for Hasan isn't even complete. This is the Trump administration using a death sentence as a media event. Oppose this publicly and demand the livestream be cancelled immediately.
