Don’t You Dare Vote Yes on This Budget

To: Sen. Grassley

From: A constituent in West Des Moines, IA

May 22

The House has passed the budget bill—and now it’s in your hands. I’m writing to make this absolutely clear: if you vote yes, you will be complicit in the premature deaths of thousands of Americans, including Iowans. This bill will gut Medicaid and Medicare. It will leave countless people—disabled people, elderly people, working-class people—without the care they need. You’ve been in office long enough to know exactly what this bill will do. So if you support it, it’s not ignorance—it’s cruelty. Do not fall in line with Donald Trump’s authoritarian agenda. Your job is not to serve him. Your job is to serve us, the people of Iowa. And if you can’t do that, you have no business holding public office. Vote NO. Show us that you have a shred of integrity left.
