Public education is a fundamental right and crucial for the development of our society. Abolishing the Department of Education would be detrimental to the over 1,000,000 students enrolled in North Carolina's public schools. It would slash federal funding for public education, eliminate support for students with disabilities, dismantle civil rights protections, and end federal student loan programs. This attack on public education only serves the interests of those seeking to privatize education for profit, at the expense of students, teachers, and families. I urge you to protect the Department of Education and oppose any legislative efforts, such as H.R. 899, or executive actions aimed at dismantling this vital agency that ensures access to quality education for all.
