Vote Against Funding ICE and CBP, Support TSA Appropriations

To: Sen. Curtis, Rep. Maloy, Sen. Lee

From: A constituent in Salt Lake City, UT

March 19

I'm asking you to vote against any appropriations bill that includes funding for ICE or Customs and Border Protection while supporting full funding for TSA. ICE and CBP have proven themselves agencies that separate families, detain people in inhumane conditions, and operate with minimal oversight. Their enforcement priorities have strayed far from public safety and instead target people who pose no threat to our communities. TSA, on the other hand, performs essential security screening that keeps air travel safe without the civil rights abuses that define ICE and CBP operations. We can have security without funding agencies that have lost public trust. Other agencies within DHS can handle necessary functions. TSA funding should move forward without being tied to ICE or CBP appropriations. I expect you to draw a clear line on this issue when the appropriations bills come to a vote.
