A member of our Humboldt community, 52-year old Gilberto Jimenez Gonzalez, was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in Wyoming late Wednesday night (July 15th). He was on vacation with his wife when he was pulled over for an alleged malfunctioning taillight. It has been reported that he has been moved to a detention center in Colorado and has a hearing set for July 27th.   Mr. Gonzalez is known as an upstanding resident, arriving here when he was 14.  He and his wife have a business and are well regarded as good neighbors and active community members. They have raised their five children here in Humboldt County and now have two grandchildren.   As my federal representative, I ask for your immediate intervention to reunite this family and bring Mr. Gonzalez home.
